The Dovetail Skive Tool Holder is used when forming a long part, while exerting the least amount of possible force from a cross slide position. Its purpose is to perform a wide forming operation without bending or breaking off the part. This is accomplished by grinding an angular cutting face on the tool and thereby gaining the benefit of full stock size at the exact point of the machining operation. The tool feeds across the work piece tangentially to center and doesn't require any correction tool step calculations.

A Group #2 American Standard Dovetail Blank is used. The holder is also adjustable for setting the tool height.

This holder can be used in four cross slide positions with a series of mounting blocks through which coolant is supplied directly to the tool's cutting edge.
