Checking Locating Blocks on the Revolving Head Print Article...

We often hear “can I tell if my revolving head is located properly” or “I think I have a problem with the locating blocks in my revolving head.”

There is a tool that does just that, part number ST-6183-SA and it is reasonably priced at $425. In most cases, this tool will pay for itself the first time it is used. The tool is installed on the 3rd swing arm stud and simply swings down to check the locating side of the block.

The ST-6183-SA can also be used to check the amount of push back on the revolving head. You will also need a short indicator such as a Starrett #196
